Phil Davies, Managing Director

Phil joined Johnson & Johnson Orthopaedics in 1983 and worked with the corporation until March 2000. In his time at Johnson & Johnson, Phil held a number of senior positions in Sale and Marketing, ending his time as Sales and Marketing Director for De Puy Orthopaedics. Whilst at Johnson & Johnson Phil experienced national, European and International responsibilities.

In April 2000 he was central to the set up and introduction of Plus Orthopaedics into the UK, his role as Managing Director facilitated one of the most successful introductions of a new joint replacement business into the UK market. The successes of Plus Orthopaedics lead to it being acquired by Smith & Nephew in 2007.

Phil left Smith & Nephew in January 2008; and with his own investment, set up Hospital Innovations Limited. In his role as Managing Director, Phil is responsible for the growth and development of the company, which he has already seen grow from its introduction in 2008 to sales approaching £4.5 million for the business year 2011/12. Investment has continued into the company and Phil is keen to achieve the highest possible standards in all areas within the industry.


Simon Bone, UK Sales Director, Spine

Simon has 21 years experience in the orthopaedic industry. Simon has worked for Johnson & Johnson Orthopaedics, DePuy Orthopaedics, Plus Orthopedics and most recently as Commercial Director for Smith and Nephew Orthopaedics Ltd. Simon is responsible for development of the Spine division of Hospital Innovations across the whole of the UK.     


John Lee, UK Sales Director, Orthobiologics

John has 20 years experience within the orthopaedic medical device industry with Johnson & Johnson Orthopaedics Ltd, Depuy Orthopaedics Ltd and Plus Orthopedics. He has spent the last two years as Sales & Marketing Director of Femcare-Nikomed Ltd a laparoscopic surgical device company and although he enjoyed this experience he is happy to be back in the orthopaedic device sector. John is responsible for development of new sales in the South of the UK as well as developing the company’s product portfolio and support materials.


Sarah Lister-Sims, Corporate Compliance Director

Following 10 years retail management with Tesco, Sarah spent 6 years as a director of a company supplying personnel worldwide to the oil and gas industry.  Returning to Wales Sarah became sales and operations director for a national outdoor advertising company before co-launching a polycarbonate bottle manufacturing business. Sarah helped deliver the Welsh Assembly Government’s flagship High Growth Programme, providing business support until joining Hospital Innovations in June 2009.


Steve Verdin, UK Business Director, Surgical

Steve has 10 years’ experience within the medical device and Pharmaceutical industry. His most recent position was as Sales & Marketing Manager for Femcare-Nikomed Ltd. Previous roles have included product management with an emphasis on sourcing and bringing to market new product lines. Steve is responsible for development of the new iSurge team in the UK as well as expanding the department’s product portfolio.


Kevin Evans, Financial Controller

Kevin is a chartered accountant with 10 years experience within private practice, working for national and regional accountancy firms where he specialised in financial reporting, project funding and business development. Kevin is responsible for the control and co-ordination of the company’s finance department.
